About the Investor Protection Trust

The Investor Protection Trust provides independent, objective information to help consumers make informed investment decisions. Founded in 1993 as part of a multi-state settlement to resolve charges of misconduct, IPT serves as an independent source of non-commercial investor education materials. IPT operates programs under its own auspices and uses grants to underwrite important initiatives carried out by other organizations.

Developed by IPT and the Kiplinger Washington Editors, the seven investor education booklets tackle the basics of several key investor topics such as stocks and bonds.

IPT Elder Investor Fraud Survey

Take a look at the results of a new national survey that gauged the knowledge and behavior of senior investors as well as the views of adult children with senior parents. The survey found that 20 percent of older Americans, 7.3 million people, have already been victimized by financial swindles.
